I was wondering if anyone suffers from internal pain as well as soft tissue/joint/tendon pain. Such as where organs are located, as I’m experiencing a lot of pelvic and abdominal pain recently. I just can’t believe fibro can cause so many problems. Doctors think I’m a hypochondriac with all my ailments yet test after test is coming back normal/negative.

It was initially suggested I might have lupus due to all my complaints but my ANA is negative. I’m so frustrated with it all.

Members connected over the frustrating reality of fibromyalgia causing widespread internal pain, including abdominal and pelvic discomfort, alongside the challenge of distinguishing fibro pain from symptoms requiring urgent medical attention. Several members shared that their fibro pain moves throughout the body day to day or even hour to hour, while pain that stays in one location for multiple days may signal something else, with one member recounting how persistent back pain led to emergency gallbladder surgery. A recurring theme was the importance of trusting your instincts, seeking medical evaluation when pain feels different or unusually persistent, and finding ways to cope with the daily uncertainty of living with fibromyalgia.

I had back pain for 3 days and chalked it up to Fibro and since it did not move I had it checked out and it turns out I needed my gal bladder removed. It was gangrenous! The doctor asked me why I waited so long to come in.

I have had fibro-heart-attacks with paramedics out to my house. You can't have a strong or even mild pain in the center of your chest and chalk it up to fibro and end up dying from a heart attack. Tricky business

Dear SophieM
Fibromyalgia in my experience presents itself as "all over" pain, like the kind you get when you have the flu. Fibro to me is both an "all over" pain AND often a focused pain/muscle pain. At any moment I feel that my brain is receiving pain signals and I can point out that my left bicep and my right calf hurts.

To me the frustrating thing about having fibromyalgia is that you don't know if a pain is "simply" fibromyalgia or if you need to have your gal bladder removed. The clue to me that the pain is something other than fibromyalgia is when the location of the pain stays the same for more than a couple of days at a time. For me, my pain that focuses on a particular area moves from day to day, even hour to hour.

The challenge is that by ignoring the back pain or the chest pain for a day or two could mean that your gal bladder becomes gangrenous or your chest pain was a heart attack.

I have had "heart attacks" where I called the paramedics only to find out that the chest pain was "only" fibromyalgia.

If the same pain persists I would persist in trying to find an answer. If as soon as the pain moves, I would chalk it up to Fibro.

Gentle Hug,
Grandpa Patrick

I get abdominal pain and I also get a really bad cramp under my left rib and sometimes my right rib. Sometimes its consistent for a day and other days it's just a twinge every now and again. Usually if the pain starts to feel stronger and different u go to the docs just to get checked over. Better safe than sorry. So if your worried then put your mind at ease and go to the doctors
