So i have a bunch of different gut issues (ibs, fbd, gastritis, food sensitivities) but lately I've been getting pain and a tightness in my lower abdomen/pelvic area immediately after eating and sometimes even after having a drink. I'm not sure if it's a gut reaction or a muscle reaction of some kind

Has anyone else experienced this or know what it is?

Members connected over experiencing lower abdomen and pelvic pain after eating, with many sharing that IBS flares, trigger foods, and digestive issues like gastritis or gastroparesis are common culprits. Several members mentioned related conditions including bladder spasms, interstitial cystitis, ulcerative colitis, and complications from acid blockers like Prilosec, with one member finding immediate relief after stopping the medication. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error nature of managing these overlapping conditions, the comfort of knowing others share similar experiences, and the encouragement to keep investigating potential causes like food sensitivities or chronic pelvic pain syndromes.

Hi Lisa,
I get the same positional pain after I eat when my IBS and Ulcerative Colitis is flaring.
It's a combination of both. It's your gut reacting with new foreign bodies entering and your digestive tract trying to push through food already in the gut and bowel.

Omg I’m so glad you posted this. I too have IBS and get constipated a lot like so many others on here from my meds. However lately I also have been getting this pain in my lower abdomen and I have been sort of worried about it. This post has made me feel a little better knowing other people get it cause I’ve had fibro for at least 12 years and this pain is a new one to me! Gotta love this site and if anyone has an answer for relief, please tag me!!

I haven't, but I have seen it mentioned at times throughout the course of conversations.
Maybe post a question on the general page and see what people say about it Lisa.

Thanks everyone for commenting, your answers have been super helpful so please keep them coming.

I'll look into all of the things mentioned, although i don't think its food intolerances as I'm on a special diet already and it occurs at random times with random foods, even sometimes with a sip of water.

I also read about fibro and chronic pelvis pain, apparently its very common and so is something called Interstitial Cystitis (painful bladder syndrome). Has anyone come across this before?

Have you been on prilolec or an acid blocker? I went to the er several times with severe low stomach pain. They did cat scans and never found anything. I happened to look at the paper from my prilosec and it said may cause stomach pain
I quit taking it and the next day, the pain was gone.
