Does anyone else experience constant back/rib pain? Sometimes it makes me short of breath. Feels like I can never get a deep breath. And does anyone ever worry that their pain is something other than fibro? It’s a constant fear of mine with the overall discomfort and the array of symptoms I always have.

Members strongly resonated with someone asking about constant back and rib pain, with many identifying it as likely costochondritis, a common fibromyalgia symptom that can feel frightening and cause shortness of breath. Several members emphasized the importance of getting symptoms checked out by a doctor rather than assuming everything is fibromyalgia-related, sharing their own experiences of years of testing that ultimately confirmed it was muscle and nerve pain. A recurring theme was the shared fear and uncertainty that comes with chronic pain, balanced by encouragement to listen to your body, seek professional guidance, and find relief through options like lidocaine ointment while remembering that flare-ups do pass.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I get that all of the time and yes, worry sometimes about it being something else, but after years of tests, doctors and all that jazz, realized it is from my muscles and nerves. I hope you feel better. I use lidocaine ointment to help relieve the pain, it helps a little. Stretching when it hurts, does not help.

Yes I have often felt that way. Don't take it for granted that it is fibro. Listen to your body. Years ago went to emergency room but was not my heart. I'm sure other people feel this way too. I don't understand all the pain we get from fibro either. Gentle hugs

I also quite often have back rib pain and only laying down will give me some relief!! And yes I also worry, like everyone else I’m sure, that my pain is being caused by something else! When it’s really bad, I think it isn’t possible that one illness can cause so much pain in so many places!!!
