For ten weeks now I’ve been in and out to the dr and specialist with ear ache. Last week while I was at the ENT specialist he suggested the pain was actually coming from my TM joint because I had very limited movement of the joint. Funny enough I regularly get pain in this area (basically it’s the joint running from your ear down your jaw bone. Just wonderingly if it too could be part of Fibromyalgia??? Anyone had anything similar???

Members widely confirmed experiencing TMJ and jaw pain, with many describing chronic discomfort in the jaw, ear, and face that they manage through heating pads, massage, and muscle cream, though several emphasized the exhausting nature of constantly needing relief. A key practical insight came from members who found lasting solutions through TMJ specialists who corrected their dental bite, used steroid treatments, and provided custom bite guards, with one member achieving 15 years of pain-free results after wearing a guard for over a year. A recurring theme was the importance of not automatically attributing every symptom to fibromyalgia, as TMJ pain can have treatable dental or structural causes, and members encouraged seeking specialized care from dentists or neurologists to rule out issues like osteoarthritis, migraines, or bite misalignment.

I have had TMJ problems. For me, it was nothing to do with fibro. It was osteoarthritis in the TMJ joint, caused by a bad bite of my teeth. A TMJ specialist (a dentist specializing in TMJ), worked on correcting my bite, concurrently with treating the joints with a steroid. Then he made a bite-guard for my bottom teeth, which I wore 24/7 for over a Year. It is 15 years later and I am still free of TMJ pain.
Please do not assume every symptom you get is fibro. We can get other diseases too. My case had a happy ending. Of course, it could be different for you.
I pray you have a good outcome.

I have TMJ often pain in my jaw and behind my ears. If you find a good massage therapist, they will go into your mouth and massage the muscle from the inside. Never considered it Fibro related, but maybe???

There are several reasons for ear, jaw, teeth pain. I, personally am slow to blame fibro for all my pains. We CAN get other things that MAY be treatable. My pain turned out to be TMJ caused by a bad bite. An adjustment (may take several) of your bite, and a good bite guard was the answer to my pain. I am doing well with TMJ pain now-- I have none!

Yes Lee2. I have TMJ or jaw pain every single day since approx a week after giving birth to my second child. A couple other symptoms came along with it, none of which I had had before. I don't even remember anymore what it feels like to not have jaw pain. Hugs to you & I hope for you, that the jaw/ear pain subsides
