I am going crazy. My hands and forehead itch!! I have occasional numbness in my hands so I kind of attribute the itchy hands to that neuro mess. But face? My forehead?? There are no obvious culprits - bites, food allergies, etc. Does anyone else experience severe itchiness?

Members confirmed that severe itching, including on hands, forehead, scalp, and throughout the body, is a common fibromyalgia experience often described as nerves misfiring or spasming without an obvious cause. Several members shared practical strategies for relief, including cooling the body with aloe vera gel, taking antihistamines like Benadryl, and pursuing medical testing for underlying conditions such as liver function, iron levels, and calcium imbalances that can also cause itching. A recurring theme was that itching often appears in waves or phases, sometimes signaling an upcoming flare, and while frustrating and occasionally intense enough to cause skin damage, it is a recognized part of living with fibromyalgia.

Yes i do, all over. I seem to go through fazes of it, but it gets so bad i rip my skin causing cuts and bruises. My GP has just changed my antihistamine to see if that helps and i have to book in for blood tests, depending on the result of those i may be sent for allegy testing.

I, too, have itching on my hands and sometimes on my legs, but usually my hands. When this first started It just about drove me crazy. It comes and goes. I have noticed that the itching usually starts one or two days before I have a flare up of fibro.

Yes all the time. Itching can be caused from a problem with the liver. I was diagnosed with hemochromatosis which is iron overload. Tell your doctors to do blood test for iron ferritin levels. It can cause cirrhosis and other issues. Also, have the docs check bloodwork for parathyroid levels and calcium and ionized calcium levels.

Yes. All the time. When i was little I would call it phantom tickles or tickle remains beacuse after something or someone tickles me its the same feeling that lingers after. Also happens on my face. Usually its what i now call a nerve thats freaking out. I think its the nerve firing for no reason and its spasming. I also get “eyelid twitches” but in other muscles ar various times. Like when your eyelid is twitching from stress or sleep deprivation. Hugs

an Itch itself if just a low-level pain, so it's probably the fibro (although a annoying variation on it.)
