Severe Muscle Spasm?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Yesterday I was feeling fine and suddenly without warning had a muscle spasm that started in my esophagus and extended down my neck and then over my right shoulder and then down my spine. The pain was so bad, I thought I was going to pass out. I’m much better today after taking my amitriptyline which I have not taken in awhile. I’ve had small spasms before but I NEVER want to go through having that big spasm again. Has anyone had a large muscle spasm like this and what do you do for it?

@A MyFibroTeam Member yes, I get it once in a while. When it starts drink lots of water. It is a strong pain. But the water will stop it. It a spasm that starts in the middle under the the chest, and it feels like it closing. I always keep water with me. As I paid $5.00 for a bottle water one time.

This was one of the severe pains I had with the biggest flare I've ever had, last year. I lost the entire month of May 2018 from it all. My neck tightened/spasmed nonstop for I'm not sure how many days/weeks. It was worst on the right side and traveled down onto the top of my shoulder and forward into my collar bone. It combined with chronic headache and severe nausea. I just remember sitting on the floor crying because it was all I could do, I couldn't move or function from it all.
Some of the issues I had exactly a year ago are starting to flare since last Monday so I'm just hoping it doesn't get debilitating again. I never went back to normal after last year, I have mild pains daily, randomly flaring to moderate, including my neck (still worse on the right side). My neck is very sore today, especially on the right.

I haven't received a fibro diagnosis yet but have been tested and scanned for everything and everything always comes out "normal". I have so many fibro symptoms there's no doubt about it. Hoping to find a fibro doctor in Kentucky. :/

Thank you Nanas! I’m so sorry you have these! I would not wish them on anyone. It does make me feel better to know I’m not alone with this crazy disease..
