Lyrica And Fat Belly
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,

Who is dealing with the Lyrica belly?

Can anyone suggest low impact exercises, because I have iritiable bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis) and don’t want to flare up.

I am gonna start walking again and cut meal doen to once a day. Maybe a salad for lunch and a meal.

Any suggestions will help?

I am afraid to get off of it, because of the severe nerve pain I get.

I don't take Lyrica, but I take Gabapentin and have the same problem. It is so very disheartening and frustrating. I am even considering liposuction because no matter what I do, it doesn't help. I know this is not too helpful, but know that you are not alone in the struggle. Being a middle-aged woman makes it extra hard for me to lose the weight. And, the joint pain and depression makes it hard to exercise. Whatever you do don't go off of your medicine. Your nerve pain is most important to control.

Ive always struggled with my weight, but since I got sick and started medications (including lyrica) Ive gained over 60 lbs. And I barely eat. And I used to be highly active and now I suffer if I go shopping over and hour.
I am getting gastric bypass done when I reach the top of the weightlist. I cannot go off the lyrica because I remember how bad I was before I went on it, and I am scared to go back to that.

I've gained more weight lately, despite being on Lyrica for years. I used to be able to do zumba, till things got worse. Not the occupational therapist gave me some articles showing that Tai Chi 1-2x/wk works better than cardio workouts, esp over long term.

IBS is part of the Magnesium deficiency problem. It's one of the things I struggled with forever. It's also tied to Candida Overgrowth. Do some research, but remember there is profit in illness, not in health. So don't believe the many clone websites that all say the same thing, find the ones with dissenting opinions. That's where you will find what helps you.
Bicycle is low impact. Swimming is low impact. Water aerobics is low impact.
NO power walking, jogging, or running!
Good luck.

PS Crackers are helping cause the IBS problem. Stay away from anything with any kind of grain in it. Stop eating uncultured Dairy. Tank up on anything with Magnesium in it and you will feel much better! Corn is a grain NOT a vegetable. Learn about food. It's what's killing you.
