A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hello all,

Hope you can advise, as I mentioned for sometime now getting bad burning/itching/redness and it’s got worse lately. Mainly face/head, hands, feet (sock area dermatitis) and ummm.....groin 😳. Started to wonder if it’s the washing powder making it worse, seems possibly worse after using fresh towels, bedding etc

I use Surcare which is supposed to be good for skin but have noticed a soapy smell to washing and flannels taste soapy when washing my face.

I use glycerin soaps for cleaning my skin. Nothing added as I'm very sensitive to perfumes. Check the farmer's markets for people making their own that you can ask what's in them. For clothes I have an unscented laundry soap, 2 rinses, no fabric softener. I recommend my brand but I have no idea if it's available where you are.

I use unscented product, perfumes used to make detergents are just another irritant. Does your washer have an extra rinse cycle? I found I have to put my clothes through two extra rinses. Also, it could be something your water company is adding to your water that is an allergen for you. Inthe summer ours adds extra chlorine among other things. Last, if you like hot showers like I do dial it down to warm or even tepid. Both hot and cold water set off flares for me.

Try and find Washing detergents that are suitable for babies clothing, you can also try Eco friendly powders as well without harsh chemicals.

Just means trial and error using the right powders or liquid detergents, that are chemical free and have no perfumes.

Unfortunately some of these powders can be very soapy.

Hope you find something that is suitable for sensitive skin.

Sure many people can give you ideas.

Blessings Gentle Hugs

Has anyone had shingles shots? I had shingles of the face andscalp last year. The face was the most ngodly pain, it went into my ear and it felt like a bomb exploding 24/7. My scalp itches like crazy, when it didn’t itch it hurt. I learned There are hundreds of nerve endings in your scalp so while your itching may be from FM now, ask your doctor if it could morph into shingles. I don’t know that answer and would be interested to find out.

If it is detergent that is doing this, I'd suggest you try the Eco Egg. I use it as do many soaps affect my skin and allergies. An antihistamine can help if it's allergies. Good luck! πŸ€—
