I have just recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, having experienced symptoms since last July. I'm a teacher living on my own in a very affluent area, so my rent is pretty high. Even with insurance, I have spent what feels like an obscene amount of money to see multiple specialists and do all the tests to get to this point. Now, I'm faced with trying to figure out how to pay for treatments. With medications, therapy, the suggestion of doing yoga, chiro, acupuncture, massages, or the like… read more
Teacher here too. Check out my story. Found out my ferritin level was to low and once corrected fatigue has left. Magnesuim by Jarrow and Muscle Ease by Redd has helped a lot too. I take it with dinner. Also B vitamin complex and D in the morning .Now I sleep more restfully and my muscle recover so much faster. I see a non-force sport chiropractor that takes my insurance and she breaks up myofascia knots and tension. Low impact exercise are great, like swimming, rehabilative Pilates, or yoga. See if you can find free communtiy yoga events in your area. Also stretching out with rollers or yoga balls relieved my muscle tenstion too as well as diaphragmatic breathing or guided mediation at bed time. Good luck.
I think that now you are diagnosed and your spending on doctor's appointments should lessen. You are going to learn to manage your fibromyalgia symptoms, little by little. Specialists, yoga, massage, nutritionists etc. can really be beneficial but also super expensive. So you will need to prioritize. Perhaps figure it out which one improves your well being the most, which one you can learn and do it on your own. Investigate whether the offered treatment or supplement is really beneficial or just a scam. You are going to be able to sort things out, just take your time. It is overwhelming getting the diagnosis and all the hassles and worries you had to go through. There is a lot you can do for yourself after you educate yourself about your treatment options. Your fibroteam is also great source of information. Hugs

Keeping stress to a minimum. Not easy in teaching. So whatever helos you destress like craft or just walking. Palates and swimming are good. Swimming is especially good if you have a bad back.
So long as you can deal with the stress with teaching you should be fine.
