Members bonded over the frightening and confusing experience of falling out of bed while asleep, describing the sensation of free-falling in a dream before waking up on the floor, bruised and sore. Several members shared that weighted blankets have been surprisingly helpful, keeping them anchored in place throughout the night and reducing both anxiety and the involuntary kicking or twisting that may cause injury, though they cautioned about finding the right weight and managing heat concerns. A recurring theme was the fear of getting hurt badly enough to miss work or lose independence, met with relief that others understood and encouragement to try practical solutions without shame.

I have. I actually have horrible night terrors and it was a common event. I know it sounds hokey, but I won a weighted blanket. I didn’t use the weight chart. I got a really heavy one. 25 pounds. I probably wouldn’t advise one so heavy because it’s heavy. Lol. But I’m an amazon an still kick it off. If you’re more petite 15 pounds. It sounds like it would be awful. But it helps my anxiety, Anxiety, ADD. As soon as I cover up I stay in the position I’m in. I have to be awake and aware to change position. So no more falling out of bed AND no more waking up mysteriously unable to stand and walk because of so much pain. I believe now that kicking and violently turning and twisting was causing me injury. I get very hot. Mine is from weighting comforts and they were the first to make a cooling blanket. Shockingly it actually does keep me pretty cool. There are tons of companies making them now. A few making cooling versions. They can be expensive but you can try a light one, 15 pounds to see and that price tag isn’t so awful. But if you can get a heavier one I think that the real benefit is weighing me down so that I stay still and I haven’t tweaked my back do badly that I developed severe sciatica or had too much pain to even get out of bed and I haven’t fallen. Give it a try. If you call the companies and ask about defective or returned products, some periodically donate blankets. I won mine in an actual contest but they’ll let you know when to check back and you might get lucky with a free blanket or a deep discount. Hope that helps.

I just got my weighted blanket it is 20 pounds talk about heavy. My husband says that I won't be able to handle it. I hope it will help me?? I'm worried that it will be to hot. It is in 70's Fahrenheit and our air conditioner is broken in our bedroom. So many things need to be done around house in and out. My husband has bad back and can't do much. May have to hire someone which is hard to admit. Don't know what we are going to do. Thanks for listening gentle hugs
