Ive been on 10mg Trepiline for a month now. Im experiencing stress-like symptomes e.g. hairloss, heart pulpitations, internal tremors, irritability. I'm still sleeping 10h a night and waking up exhausted, Im actually getting to work later in the mornings.

I had a bad case of the flu for 2 weeks this months too, so its unclear if the meds are helping in any way.

Should I continue treatment and see if the side-effects go away or should I move on to the next treatment?

Good decision! I mean I would have chunked it at hair loss!! 😱

After a month and a half, I decided to leave amitriptyline. The side effect were impacting my ability to get through the day.
Thank you so much for the input!! ❤

I was on the maximum dosage,150 mg of amitriptyline, for over a decade. I did fine for the most part, but it didn't help me sleep. It was prescribed to me because it has build up effects of reducing pain and was used for Fibromyalgia for that reason. However, I took handful of meds back then and I developed a stammer. Kept the stammer until I was forced off all my meds when the company messed up my coverage and I couldn't get any meds for two months. Therefore I detoxed cold turkey style and it was awful. No sleep at all and migraines for over month. Now I am off it, I will never go back on it, but it did help me in the beginning years. I had no side effects like you described even at the max dosage.

I have been on 50mg Amitriptyline for many years with no real side effects but dry mouth and increased appetite when I first went on them.

I reduced my 10mg to 5mg as suggested by doctor by cutting the tablet in half as it was making me feel I had a hangover when waking in the morning. Might lessen the side effects.
