Members shared diverse experiences with amitriptyline (Trepiline/Elavil), revealing that while some built tolerance or found it ineffective even at high doses, others experienced lasting relief for neuropathy, headaches, and sleep issues over many years. Several members described useful practical insights, including that amitriptyline is a precursor to Lyrica, that Co-Enzyme Q10 supplements may help reduce muscle cramps and aches, and that adverse reactions to medications like Cymbalta should always be documented in medical records. A recurring theme was the highly individual nature of medication response, with members emphasizing the importance of close monitoring, open communication with doctors, and being willing to adjust treatment plans when something stops working or causes harm.

This is interesting to me because I've never heard of amitriptyline being used for headaches or any other pain. I'm on it for sleep. I'm prescribed Topamax for migraines. I've had no real side effects from the amitriptyline.

Kerry, make sure your negative reaction to Cymbalta gets added to your medical records. Good thing you refused it.
