Members connected over the shared experience of painful and stiff fingers, particularly thumbs, with many attributing it to a combination of fibromyalgia, repetitive phone use, and conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome. Several members found relief through topical treatments including Aspercreme, capsaicin cream, CBD ointment, essential oils, and lidocaine, with one member sharing that daily application for a week brought lasting improvement. A recurring theme was the frustration of hand stiffness causing dropped items and lost dexterity, alongside practical suggestions such as wrist braces, heat therapy, omega-3 supplements, and consulting doctors about underlying issues like parathyroid function or nerve damage.

My thumbs get extremely sore but not so much my pinky fingers! And the backs of my hands hurt soooo much. They are stiff also and I’ve dropped so many things lately! Love the life of fibro!!

My hands and fingers have been hurting bad lately. My pain doctor suggested aspercream and it has helped a lot. I think our thumbs hurting have a lot to do with typing on our phones but fibro does make them worse I'm sure. I only have to use the aspercream occasionally now. I used it daily for about a week at first but the pain has really subsided. I can't believe how good it worked. Try it. I hope it helps you like it did me.

I too get a lot of pain in my hands and feet. Capsaicin cream or zacin is what I was prescribed and it has been helpful. One of the problems on this site is that meds have different names across the pond so I often have no idea what the drugs people talk about are or even the benefits etc. But this cream has Chilli oil in it. You massage it in just don't rub your eyes afterwards !

My thumbs are almost always in pain, especially the left one. I have used some essential oils, and lately have gone to a CBD ointment- both give much relief!
