Members deeply related to the challenge of healing from ankle sprains while living with fibromyalgia, with many sharing that injuries seem to take much longer to recover and often leave lasting weakness or pain. Several members offered practical advice, including consistent use of the RICE technique (rest, ice, compression, elevation), wearing supportive boots or compression socks, taking magnesium for cramps, seeking massage therapy, and considering a podiatrist referral for persistent swelling. A recurring theme was the connection between fibromyalgia and slower healing due to compromised immune systems, with some members also mentioning overlapping conditions like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and the frustration of feeling misunderstood by loved ones who don't grasp the complexity of chronic pain.

Yes, I have an ankle that collapses like a trap door. 2 breaks within 2 years and a long history before. It suffers from bad swelling and the other ankle isn't great either. One dr suggested Ehlers-Danlos--look it up. Many fibro symptoms cross with EDS

JanetReedman...funnly enough i did spot that a few days ago...it does answer alot of my problems as i have hypomobility joints and restricted blood flow , i had snapping hip syndrome when i was younger, i had surgery in my 20s to lengthen my tendon band in my hip. Still have clicking joints. Its funny, now lot of things are identified which is good, compared to 25 yrs ago when my symptoms started, and got looked at like i was making it up! Im like you, any wrong twist or turn on my ankles and they flare up. I hope you are ok xx

I too have been dealing w the swelling and pain in my ankles. Just got a referral for podiatrist. I too sprained my ankle twice, same foot, then rolled it. But both ankles are swelling?? I've been icing them down and elevating them, it's helping
