My husband works full time, and also has Fibro. My son and daughter-in-law briefly said they would help but are busy. All my grown up kids are in school full time, newly married, or living in another country. We are going to have most of them here for over the Christmas Season. Maybe we’ll put them up then? But then how do you get them back down again? Any suggestions would be great.

Members shared creative strategies for managing holiday decorating with fibromyalgia, with many emphasizing the importance of dividing tasks into small chunks over several days, enlisting family help during gatherings, and letting go of perfection in favor of what brings joy. Several members described practical adjustments they've made, including investing in pre-lit trees, focusing only on lights and a few favorite decorations, meeting at restaurants instead of hosting elaborate meals, and setting clear visit time limits (3-4 hours) to preserve energy. A recurring theme was the grief of no longer being able to do what they once loved, balanced with the hard-won wisdom of prioritizing self-care, accepting help without guilt, and finding new traditions that honor both their limitations and their desire to celebrate with loved ones.

I agree. I really cut back this year. Exhaustion just isn't worth it. JUst do what you can. Take care of yourself first and foremost!

I put out a few favorite decorations and buy a couple of poinsettias for our home. We go visit one of our daughters for Christmas. She loves Christmas decorations and she turns her home into a beautiful winter wonderland.
I couldn’t be more pleased.
Enjoying myself and not exhausted and no flares..

It is about lighting the shortest day for some. It is great that you do what you can. Dispel the dread, love the light! Keep it ultra simple, no apologies! 🥰🧡🥰Jan

My husband and I love to entertain family and friends.
I have to do things in stages spreading tasks out over a few days. What I had to accept is that by the time I stand doing the cooking, I am shot. Limping around wondering if the guest will leave before I collapse. I love to cook and try and put little extra touches to the meal. I just cannot do it.
So instead of hosting, we meet at a restaurant. This way I can still enjoy the company.

It still stinks that we can't enjoy what we used to so much. Your mind screams do something and your body gives it the old stink eye!
