Does social security SSI typically pay for pain medicine for severe fibroid pain? And I mean actual pain medicine.

If you have qualified for SSDI you will also qualify for Medicare (regardless of age), and usually another form of state aid, those will cover a great percentage of your medication costs.

Medicare and Medicaid are the two Government programs that can pay for medications.

If you are on SSI you qualify for Medicare after a 2 year waiting period which starts as soon as you qualify for SSI.

You may qualify for your state's Medicaid depending upon your income.
