I have really bad rib pain on my left side, specifically in the back. The pain will be excruciating when I turn to the left as I will get a sharp pain that goes all the way around to the front. Yesterday, I felt like I was in a vice or someone was squeezing me as I also felt a tightness that went all the way around my ribs from front to back just under my breast. That has let up some, but I still have the pain on my left side. Does anyone else experience this and if so, what do you do about… read more

Members rallied around someone experiencing severe left-side rib pain, with many identifying it as costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs that is common in fibromyalgia and can feel frighteningly similar to a heart attack. Several members shared practical relief strategies, including applying heat with heating pads, taking anti-inflammatory medications like Mobic, resting to avoid quick movements, and wearing loose clothing around the waist to reduce pressure on sensitive areas. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of this pain, how it can be triggered by standing too long, leaning at angles, or even deep breaths, and the reassurance that while it is excruciating and scary, it is not life-threatening and members are not alone in this experience.

I pretty much have the same symptoms. Its worse for me on the left side too, but sometimes the right side can cause certain problems as well. Even deep breaths sometimes cause like a sharp pain that leaves me totally like paralyzed, cuz the pain is so strong and the more I try to breathe the worse it gets. But I figured it has alot to do with what I do during the day and how I sleep/ lie down / sit. I know not everybody can, but the best remedy is rest and not too many quick movements....those are the worst, one can be enough to ruin your whole week sadly. Hang in there! You are not alone!

Yes. Rib pain terrible. Usually when I've been standing for long periods. Heat helps relieve it and sitting for a bit.

Yes and nothing helps. It usually happens when I am at work shampooing and leaning over at an angle.I cant wear a hard belt on my pants or tight around my waist or it will also make my ribs hurt.
