Amitriptyline really helped me (and my pain) but what actually helped the most and with the least side effects is Valarian Root Extract! It helps me so much, I was really struggling getting a few hours of sleep before. Valerian root gets me right off to sleep and it doesn’t give me the side effects that tomazipan gave me. Good luck and I hope you find some relief.
50mg of amitriptylene and I haven’t slept this good in years! I usually get at least seven hours of undisturbed sleep which is wonderful compared to the two-three hours I used to get!!
Oh my gosh one more thing I forgot to mention! Don’t bother with valerian root tea which is notoriously smelly and gross! The tablets can be a bit smelly too but worth it for a good night sleep!
Thank you all for your suggestions. Some of these I have tried and either have not worked well or side effects were just too much.. I may ask for ampitryptiline again. I have tried melatonin and 5-htp but not the Natrol. Perhaps I will do that as welll. And may also try the valerian root extract. Thanks again! I was taking Kavinace pm ultra and it worked like a charm for a month and then stopped working. Anyone have a similar experience with Kavinace?
Sorry I live in U.K. so may not be same but here you can get valerian root from any pharmacy, herbalist or on amazon. I have tried a couple of different brands - I just checked and the one I’m using at the moment (Kalms Night) is equivalent to 1.93g. Sometimes I take two if I can’t sleep and so far it’s done the trick and have been able to stop taking prescribed sleeping pills which for me is a good thing as I no longer get the grogginess the next morning and I imagine better for my liver too! It’s also meant to help digestion which in my case is a very helpful thing. Good luck, I hope you can get some good sleep soon.
