Since Fibromyalgia Is Related To Anxiety/depression, Who Do You Go To To Vent On The Pain And The Anxiety?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve been so stressed out lately and I feel like I’m losing my friends and family for ranting out all my problems and the pains that I feel. Although I feel better when I let it out my head but not sure who will be willing to listen without paying then hundreds of $

Members deeply connected over the isolating experience of losing friends and family who grow weary of hearing about chronic pain, with many sharing that they now rely on this community as their primary safe space to vent without judgment or financial cost. Several members offered practical suggestions including seeing a therapist or psychiatrist who can prescribe fibromyalgia-specific medications like Cymbalta or Lyrica, journaling to process emotions privately, and seeking out local support groups to meet others who truly understand the daily reality of chronic pain. A recurring theme was the painful double standard of healthy people expecting the world to stop when they are sick while dismissing or disbelieving chronic illness, met with fierce solidarity from the community and repeated invitations to vent freely here without shame or charge.

I’ve checked in my area for a support group. Their are none. I was thinking of starting a informal one myself. This way I could meet others with the same pain. Like we do online. I’m afraid to loose my friends. I don’t bring up my pain to them. They ask and I give a short answer. One day at a time.

I go to a womens group at my psychiatric clinic. A few of the women in the group that suffer from anxiety, depression and bipolar also have fibromyalgia. Since the group meets weekdays during the morning, its a time when im at my best. Once all my longtime friends get off work im ready for bed. Ive made great friends in the group, they can relate and i can relate to them. We all share ideas and offer things that have helped. Its actually something i look forward to. I definitely dont look forward to my regular dr appts.
