I am really struggling with pain/cramps in my legs, also irritable legs as well. Has anybody got any advice!! I sleep very badly anyway but this just makes it a nightmare trying to get any quality sleep
If it's restless leg syndrome then you may need to have your ferritin (iron) levels checked and supplement the deficiency.
If it's not RLS, then PT can help with appropriate stretching that is really effective (I speak from experience). It could be caused by your feet, back or both. So correcting those issues will provide relief
Lastly, if you're having issues with spasticity as opposed to just cramping then you may need to consider intramuscular Botox injections in your legs. I receive 6 shots in each leg for this issue every 3 months and the relief is life changing. There are 3 shots in each calf and hamstring.
But I cannot stress enough the importance of DAILY stretching for everyone especially those of us with these musculoskeletal issues.
I believe magnesium is good for cramps.
I had terrible leg pain and cramps about two years ago that would only come on when I went to bed!! It hurt so much so I told my doctor and he put me on amitriptylene and I’m happy to say, I haven’t had it once since and sleep like a baby! I never got much sleep before but now I get 7-8 hours almost every night! I do still have sore legs during the day and the odd Charlie horse but nothing like those pains I’d get at night! Good luck!!
I read up on the use of magnesium for cramps. I used to get really bad ones up from my ankles that would make me cry until it passed. My whole foot would curl under. And couldn't put my feet under me to walk it off. Over a yr ago I started to use magnesium and have found a great difference. Stil get cramps but not as near as frequent or severe as before.
My Doctors say rest and sleep is important. I’m on a Antidepressant called Amitriptyline. You take it at bedtime. I sleep 8 hours and don’t feel my body pains.
