Members overwhelmingly urged someone experiencing crushing chest pain to seek immediate medical evaluation, emphasizing that while costochondritis (inflammation of the rib cage) is a common fibromyalgia symptom, chest pain can also signal heart issues, asthma, acid reflux, anxiety, or allergies. Several members shared their own experiences of scary chest episodes that turned out to be fibromyalgia-related after cardiac workups, while others described discovering underlying conditions like asthma or panic attacks that required separate treatment. A recurring theme was the importance of getting checked out to rule out serious causes, avoid added stress from uncertainty, and ensure proper diagnosis rather than assuming everything is fibromyalgia.

Yes. Dr said I was surely over using my muscles. I said nope def not and he shrugged me off. Later I realized the reason it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest all the time is that I had asthma (confirmed when I walked into my dads second and third-hand smoke-filled house and immediately had an asthma attack). Later realized it was also from anxiety and panic attacks (stress levels). However now I think its also related to allergies, pollen, and mild food sensitivities. But there can be so many reasons for what you're experiencing I agree with everyone on here that you should get it checked out.

Probably costocontritis which gives pain all over rib cage. I get it really bad sometimes in my breast bone. But get checked out to be safe.

Go get checked out as could be something other than fibro could be a sign your heart muscles are over working or acid reflux along those lines better to be safe than sorry. I do get these pains sometimes it's hard to tell whether it's my heart or fibro πŸ€— sending hugs x

I have soreness in my rib cage and chest area but no crushing pain. Something else is going on and you should see your doc right away! For Fibro I have more pain where any tissue attaches to bone.
