Are you glad you did it? Did it make a significant weight loss? How do you feel it may have impacted your fibro? How long was recovery?

I’m in the same boat as you, physically feel so bad and hate looking in the mirror to see that worn out, flabby body in front of me! They say that new Keto diet is amazing and looks tempting as you can eat as much meat and cheese as you want but same as you, know that after the weight is lost, if you don’t keep up this lifestyle change, the weight will come back on! However, gastric bypass surgery is the same because at the beginning it’s great cause your stomach will fill up so quickly so you eat less but as time goes on, you increase the amount you eat, therefore your stomach stretches again and before you know it, you’ve gained back all the weight you lost! It’s a vicious circle this weight problem but it’s so frustrating and sickening to be in this overweight state! Good luck with whatever you decide!!

SylviaAlberton, I appreciate your input but I have tried many different weight loss routes. You wouldnt know this, but I am a registered nurse with experience in nutrition. I have been big all my life and “watching my weight” since I was a teen. I have lived for years off meal replacements and calorie counting, and recently joined weight watchers to eat healthier as I wasnt eating enough daily calories. I gained 20 lbs since joining. I am now 250 lbs. I actually gained 1/2 lb this past week. There is nothing else in my life to change other than resort to unhealthy fad diets.

I don't know how much weight you need to lose. I went on the SlimmingWorld.com and lost 46 lbs and it helped me. It's just a lifestyle change, not a diet, started in the UK, now it's in the USA. @A MyFibroTeam Member

The www.slimmingworld.com is not a fad diet! I know you've tried it all, so have I. But before I have a gastric bypass I would definitely try the last eating plan. Like I said, people have lost 100-200lbs on this eating plan. And to top it off I lost all my weight without exercising! Couldn't because I hurt! Anyway, it's just information for you to consider! I wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't at least let you know about a safe and healthy eating plan that let's you eat unlimited amounts of pasta, potatoes, corn, vegetables and fresh fruit and has a support group on the site plus a monthly online magazine. Great team leaders and lots of encouragement too! Love and gentle hugs to you, @A MyFibroTeam Member

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm in the same position. I was 280 at my heaviest. I haven't been able to get lower than 255. I've done Keto, Paleo and everything else to lose weight. Between the Fibro and arthritis working out is almost impossible. I know the sugery is not a cure all, but it can be the head start I need. Whole foods and walking to me will be the key to keeping it off. Gentle hugs.
