It took me 2 years from the time I filed to get ssi. I couldn't get ssd because I didn't have enough work credits. I have Medicaid though witch is a blessing. You need to file and as soon as you get denied which 95% of people do, then get a disability attorney to appeal it. I was 35 years old when I got it. I am now 52 and have had 2 phone appt with them and 1 in office appt to recheck to make sure I still need disability. Of course I still do so I haven't had an appt for several years now. Good luck. Hang in there. It is a long wait to get it so be patient. Make sure to get every doctor you have seen in the last 10 years to get papers from them. Any tests or just office visits. S.S.S. I guess every state have different rules. Here in Georgia you have to put down the last 15 years.its a real pain, but finally got it.

The work credits they go back 10 years and figure out how much you have worked in those 10 years. I only worked 4 out of the 10 years so I did not have enough. In not sure how much you need to work to get ssd. I got ssi since I didn't have enough credits. I get $750 a month which is the lowest you would get. If you have enough credits, you get ssd which I'm not sure how they figure that out but you can look it up with your ss number. The benefit of ssi is you get medicaid which has been a lifesaver for me. Good luck.

How much you get depends on how much you paid into it. I’m not sure of your age but usually younger people have a harder time getting it. You can go online and figure out how much you would get (if you have enough work credits) they use to mail them yearly, now you have to go online to see.
