Members confirmed that many experience pain flares during ovulation or their menstrual cycle, with some describing sharp or dull ovarian pain, amplified cramps, joint inflammation, and even tooth or jaw discomfort that doctors often attribute to fibromyalgia rather than a specific cause. Several members shared practical strategies that help them cope, including using ice packs or hot water bottles on painful areas, staying hydrated, taking birth control pills to reduce cycle-related symptoms, and tracking which side they ovulate on each month. A recurring theme was the frustration of hormonal fluctuations worsening fibro symptoms and the challenge of managing overlapping conditions like IBS, PMDD, and TMJ without clear answers or treatment options.

I find hot water bottles help immensely. I don't have periods anymore due to type of pill I'm on (even though I don't have sex) but suffer DD & IBS. But did notice I could more or less tell which side I was ovulating each month & did end up with really bad periods hence the pill.

Great question! I have had a pain deep in my left side where my ovary should be for a few years. It can be painfully sharp, or a dull ache, or hardly noticable. But it is always there. I've had ultrasound, MRI, and no one can detect from where the pain originates. My ovary has disappeared and it is not intestinal. The only explanation has been either referred back pain or fibro pain.
Good luck to you!!

I flare for many reasons, like the weather or walking too much earlier that day. However, my overall body pain seems to increase when I am on my cycle. All things painful associated with my cycle seem to amplify; cramps, back pain, etc . . .
Hope this was somewhat helpful. =)
