Can Meloxicam/mobic (NSAID) Help?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

The rheumatologist had me start a prescription NSAID for osteoarthritis, and he believes it may also help with my fibromyalgia-like symptoms (still waiting on insurance approval for a test to rule out another condition). The medication I'm taking is called meloxicam/mobic.
I'm trying to figure out what his reasoning is - do NSAIDs help fibromyalgia, or does it just help in a secondary way, by managing the arthritis symptoms?

I tried Meloxicam for two months. I had to stop taking it because of the side effects. Thanks for the info regarding the Pennsaid.

I was on Meloxicam. Great pill but it causes ulcers. I had to stop talking it. Now I use an anti inflammatory lotion called Pennsaid. It really helps.

No, I'm pretty sure I was born with it, or got it very young. Looking back there were many times I had pain doing childhood activities. Family excurseions to the fair and amusement parks always caused pain and tiredness. I would cry all the way to the car when my younger sister didn't have those pains. My mom spent a lot of nights rubbing my legs so I could sleep. My car accident has given me neck and shoulder injuries, but the pain is different. The fibro pain is more all over and achiness like the flu. I also have boughts of stabbing electrical pain with fibro. I also have arthritis due to surgery on my knees when I was a kid. My knees are getting worse. Sometimes can hardly walk.

I haven't had too many pain pills, nsaids or opiods or anything that really helped my fibromyalgia pain. It does help the spots where I have neck and shoulder injuries, sciatica and my knees. If you also have arthritis, it may take the pain level down by handling your arthritis pain.

It didn't seem to help my fibro but it hurt my stomach so I quit taking it right away.
