Short Sharp Random Pain?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anybody else suffer with short bursts of pain ranging from seconds to minutes? Sometimes it comes back in the same place later sometimes its days or longer before you get it again?

Also i have had rib / chest pain before but today i've had like short sharp pains in my rib, so sharp almost stinging and the area would sometimes hurt to touch but not always? Can anyone relate to this? Again, this comes and goes.

Hi: The rib pain is called costochondritis and is inflammation of the chest wall. That can be very scary and some people actually think they are having symptoms of a heart attack. Ice helps and anti inflammatories. I had it so bad once that I had to have injections around my rib cage. It hurts to even wear a bra. This can come and go and is usually brought on by stress.

I also get bouts of costochondritis. Although this last time I got it on the opposite side from what I normally do and I think it was actually the start of the Shingles that followed. It’s not uncommon to get that type of pain before shingles. They can’t do much for costo but I have found heating pad and just reducing any activity helps it go away. Mine comes and goes too like Charlottes. But if you haven’t had a Shingles vacinne, get one (just in case)

I get sharp pains in my head, chest, hips, legs. I feel like it's one thing after the other.

Yes! I relate the pain as like a wasp sting. Sometimes it will be several times in the same place but other times it is random areas.

That sounds like neuropathy. Also, ever since I had shingles I get those shocks all over in random places. I was sitting in front of a business client and got one and it made me jump. I had to laugh it off, but it was embarrassing.
