Tingling Skin
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

It feels like there’s tingling on the surface of my skin. It happens in such off places, like my back and sides of my body (near hips). I guess the closest thing to describe it would be like light sensations of being poked by a pinprick, not really painful though.

@A MyFibroTeam Member and @A MyFibroTeam Member, Fibromyalgia can cause tingling & muscle jerking just about anywhere in the body. Some Drs call it Neropathy (like Diabetics get) and/or restless leg syndrome (even though it can happen in other muscle groups). I get the feeling of like bugs crawling down my legs & sometimes other locations. The muscle jerks will be in my legs, arms, hands, even in my chest, stomach, back & neck areas.

As for getting chocked on food it could be multiple things. You should see your Dr about this. If your Dr. doesnt know what to do have them refer you to a gastrointrologist or your rheumatologist. You may be having sjogrens symptoms which would make your esophagus dryer & easy to choke. I have sjogrens but I also have Eosinophilic Esophagitis which causes your esophagitis to swell, have eosinophilic (type of white blood cells) to grow in your esophagitis & cause it to get rings, cause damage & cause you to choke on foods. Its triggered by foods, environmental fumes, etc that you may be allergic to. I ended up being allergic to multiple environmental & household items but my trigger for EOE is wheat & dairy.

Man, you’ve hit my experience to a tee! Muscle twitching had me worried of ALS, Dr. can’t find any signs of Neuropathy so it’s “probably not MS,” and more. I’m almost at the point where we just wait and see what happens, and if I suddenly find I can’t move a limb, well that’s it. It’s be a cheaper way to diagnose than an MRI and Spinal Tap for sure 😄 I’ve heard Fibro can cause issues with swallowing too!

@A MyFibroTeam Member, used to think I had MS, Lupus, Cancer, ALS, anything but Fibromyalgia/Chronic fatigue. You feel like it's got to be something serious because you start to feel like you're dying and when the Dr can't find anything it's so scary. I hope they can rule out MS. I was worried about having something else along with Fibro because I have problems with swallowing, choke on certain foods sometimes, however I am afraid to go to the Dr again! Get so tired of all the testing! Good luck and prayers it's just FM/CFS!
