Members responded to the question about finding comfortable sleeping positions despite pain, with many sharing that comfort involves more than just position and often requires addressing the pain itself through heat, medication, or specialized equipment. Several members described creative solutions including heated blankets, triangle memory foam pillows, pregnancy body pillows to keep legs separated, layered blankets of varying weights and textures, TENS devices for nerve pain, and over-the-counter options like melatonin, lidocaine roll-ons, and lavender baths. A recurring theme was that prescription medications like Flexeril (muscle relaxer), amitriptyline, and Ambien have been game-changers for many members in finally achieving restful sleep after years of struggling, though finding the right combination often requires patience and experimentation.

I started taking amitriptylene about two years ago and I’m getting the best sleep I’ve had in fourteen years!! Usually about an hour after I take it, I’m out like a light and sleep for at least six and more like eight hours a night!! Doesn’t matter how I’m laying, I fall asleep!!

I am on Flexerall. A muscle relaxer. And that seems to help some nights. Other nights if u can take a bath with some lavender in it...it really does help. They also sell over the counter roll on muscle relief gels such as lidocaine. Those help if u can pin point where ur hurting. I hope u find something that relaxes u and helps u sleep! Good luck.

Depends what is keeping u up. I use a heating pad when pain keeps me up and a tens device when I feel like stick pins are poking and keeps me up. A hot tub of water helps some times. But of course there are some nights I am just restless but I've had issues with insomnia since I was a teen over 25 years. Hope you find something that will help. God bless

Melatonin is great. Try a low mg dose. Found in almost every grocery store. OTC.

I sleep with several blankets as i find different regions of my body require different things. Something fluffy across my feet and legs, something heavy across my midsection and something thin with cold side across my shoulders. I alsp prefer a heared undrrblanket as its not as overwhelmingly warm as on top. I use one if those u shaped pregnanvy body pillows because i am a side sleeper and my legs cant touch so when i roll over i dont have to readjust so much. I also had a pair of couch cushions in my bed for a while as laying on my back with my legs propped up was the best position for me to relax in. I also have add and to help calm my mind and clear my head i keep a fidget cube in hand while falling asleep so i have something physical to focus my thoughts on and it helps a lot.
