Does Lyrica Make You More Weak And Tire Easily And Then Ache?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been on it a couple of weeks. I went two years diagnosed. I don't know if I just worked through it and now taking Lyrica makes me realize how good it feels.

I had been on gabapentin for 4 years for nerve pain which we thought was being caused by a degenerating disc in my neck, but upon the fibromyalgia diagnosis last year the doctor switched me to Lyrica because it's supposedly better for it and between the two (gabapentin and pregabalin) it's the only one approved for fibromyalgia. I was on it for most of this spring.

That's how I found out the gabapentin had also been serving to balance my moods, but that's another story. In the Lyrica story, the nerve pain came back, a bit concerning after 4 years without. It was sporadic at first and I gave the drug some time to work. But not only did it not work, and though I have been told it's "impossible", it really seemed to me that the Lyrica was actually *causing* pain, because repeatedly it would flare up nearly immediately after taking the pill. Which is absolutely not supposed to happen so...repeated coinicidences?

When the pain became intolerable again I went back to the doctor and had him put me back on gabapentin, and have not had nerve pain again since.

I believe that any drug can cause just about anything in anyone, because although drugs will behave predictably for a majority of people, everyone's chemistry is in fact different and some people will have different, opposite and/or sometimes weird reactions.

It’s been linked to muscle degeneration. I’m on it right now not sure if its helping but i’m not going off them, don’t want to feel anymore pain than I have already. Lol I’m also on Cymbalta and Cyclobenzaprine. It’s been almost two years and Doctors are still playing around with pain meds. Only on 100mg of pregabulin, my Doctor tried to tell me we didn’t have much wiggle room to increase it, I’m a nurse, had to call foul on that didii! I’m in huge amounts of pain, not sure what to do? My Doctor can’t give out narcotics. Not sure if I would take them, would like to go back to some job in the future.

Gabapentin did nothing for me. Not sure about the pregabalin either. Fibro definitely causes severe co-morbidity depression.
