Members overwhelmingly connected over the shared experience of feeling like they have the flu every single day, describing it as constant body aches, fatigue, and weakness that never quite goes away, even though most don't run actual fevers. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped ease their symptoms, including getting vitamin D levels checked and supplemented, taking gentle daily walks even when it feels impossible, trying medications like Cymbalta, Lyrica, Savella, and Trazodone for sleep, and pacing activities carefully to avoid triggering worse flare-ups the next day. A recurring theme was the challenge of explaining this invisible, relentless exhaustion to others who don't understand why you can't just push through, with many members finding comfort in simply knowing they're not alone in feeling run over by a truck every morning.

That's exactly how I discribe my flare ups as a major Mac truck flu. I do tend to ache everyday but learn to cope until I get a real bad flare up than I'm ever so useless. I'm on Cymbolta & Flexril (for my back injury) was on Neurontin but I just didn't seem to feel a difference except for dizziness. I find gluten free helps and daily walks no matter how bad you feel.

When I have a bad attack I call it "my flu" I crawl into bed and stay warm, nothing much helps until it passes.

The flu symptoms for me always show up if I've done too much that same day or the day before...then I crawl to the bedroom and try to rest and maybe even fall asleep for an hour or two - I also have insomnia so sleep is hard because of the chronic pain and depression. I haven't posted lately...I find it a challenge to do anything when the pain seems to take over and as you know,it's a daily battle. Maybe try and think-have you done too much to set it off? I hope I helped you somehow. So glad for this website. Hope you get some relief...wish there was a cure.

Same here. It has to do with our "sleep dysfunction" (alpha-EEG sleep anomaly) and also probably obstructive sleep apnea. Now that the researchers know "What", they need to figure out the "Why". A majority of those with FM take a sleep aid. Trazadone is probably the safest (re side effects and potential dependence issues).

Yes. Everyday. It seems as though I always have some degree of the flu and just can't shake it. I try to take each day one at a time. So far I have always just kind of lived with it but it seems to be worse since the fall. I can't seem to accomplish anything.
