Members responded to someone who woke up with a mysteriously swollen and bruised eye, with many sharing that they too experience unexplained bruising on various parts of their bodies, often attributed to fibromyalgia, blood-thinning medications like Lyrica or Warfarin, or low vitamin C levels. Several members offered practical explanations, including possible allergic reactions to bedding materials, accidental contact with a CPAP mask during sleep, ocular rosacea causing eyelid swelling, or simply bumping into things while tossing and turning at night without remembering. A recurring theme was the frustration of fibromyalgia's unpredictable symptoms, the importance of checking medication side effects and vitamin deficiencies with a doctor, and the shared experience of waking up with bruises that seem to appear out of nowhere.

I read that meds can cause easy bruising, and we can knock ourselves in the eye tossung and turning in our sleep.

That's what I was going to say, first thing you get checked is the meds. Have they got bruising as a side effect, are they thinning your blood, if blood thinning is the cause then you need to change your meds, but your doc can tell you if it is by a blood test, then prescribe an appropriate med for you.
I go to bed without any bruises and wake up with them. Have to get it checked by the doc but it's always so difficult to get an appointment.
Hope you find the answer, if all else is checked and comes to nothing then it has to be the fibro...... The little beggar likes to keep us on our toes by throwing another spanner in the works just when we think we've got it sussed! 😂
Sending love and gentle hugs to you. ((💕))

Nope. That’s one I’ve missed. Lots of bruises all over me. Good if I ever want a divorce! 🤪

You mentioned that you use a cpap- perhaps in your sleep you tried to adjust it or scratch an itch or something and the pressure of the mask or nasal pillows was enough to give you a black eye. Just a thought. Sending hugs.

that happened to me about a year ago. Woke up one morning and my right eye was swollen, the eye itself was totally red. It hurt. Some friends thought it was a spider bite. (it was not) I went to the eye doctor and he was baffled. Gave me antibiotics - oral and eye drops- just to be safe. It was cleared up a week later when I went back for a follow up visit. I just had a regular check up a few months ago and the eye doctor talked again about how perplexed he was. He assured me there was no damage. Crazy!
