My first experience was quite worrying as any pain in that region usually is. Having been sent for ECGs Xrays etc, the 3rd Dr I saw told me it was Costochondritis , inflammation in the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone or sternum causing chest pain in that area. Apparently it is common with Fibromyalgia. Anti inflammatory medication helps, personally I have to be choosey as I am allergic to some types. Do many others suffer from this sometimes and what do you take for this?
I have that pain and I’ve been to see many specialists to figure it out and finally my fibromyalgia dr. said that he thinks now that he ruled everything else out that it is probly from Fibro. I’ve had this pain maybe a dozen times a year for the last 25 years I don’t know why but when it happens I drink a cold glass of milk and it goes away except one time it lasted for 4 hours. I thought I was dying I think the cold from the milk constricts the nerve endings I don’t know but you are the very first person I have heard say that omg I’m not alone sorry to hear that you have that too but now I know it’s from fibromyalgia I should have known what isn’t related to fibromyalgia???
I’ve suffered with costochondritis for at least 18 years. It never fully goes away. Have been hospitalized from the pain a few times, but the drs always thinking it’s cardiac related, even when you’re telling them what it is. I’ve had cortisone injections in the tender spots and that’s helped some, wearing a looser fitting bra helps, The ribs are always tender and the inflammation never goes away. And yes it’s absolutely to do with Fibromyalgia
I get the same pain and yes my bra makes it feel worse I was just told I have arthritis in my ribs nothing about the pain in my chest but yes I was sent for a ECG and exrays
It's really important that everyone first has all other conditions checked out. As unpleasant as it is. .knowing it isnt your heart takes most of the worry away. X
I didn't mention that every time I have a flare, I get this, so that's at the very least once a week, usually more often. There isn't a med I know that helps me, but I have put Salonpas pads on my chest (right down the middle) or at night use a heating pad. I feel down knowing that this happens to you people. 😯
