Okay so I'm new here but I'm desperate for answers from people who understand. 7 months ago my husband started experiencing rapidly Progressive dementia which we now know is cjd AKA mad cow disease. He went from a perfectly healthy 32 year old welder ironworker 2 as if he was a 90 year old with Alzheimer's. We have a one-year-old set of twin girls together and I also have a set of 10 year old twin girls. I've never been so stressed in all of my life. I started experiencing burning joints sore… read more

Members responded with deep compassion to someone caring for a husband with rapidly progressive CJD while managing her own severe pain symptoms and raising four children, with many affirming that extreme stress can trigger or worsen fibromyalgia and urging her to seek a rheumatologist's evaluation. Several members shared critical practical resources, including the CJD Foundation helpline, Alzheimer's Association support services, Social Security's compassionate allowance program for disability benefits, and guidance on finding in-home nursing assistance through insurance or local agencies. A recurring theme was the urgent need for this caregiver to accept help without guilt, lean on family or community support, and prioritize her own health so she can continue caring for her family through this devastating crisis.

@A MyFibroTeam Member,I am very sorry to hear everything you are going through. I went through this very same thing only with my mom almost 2 years ago. I was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life. My mom had Lewi Body Dementia. Which is a very rare disease. I only had the help of my husband and my dad. The rest of my family didn’t want anything to do with her.
I think the most important thing that you need right now is support from someone //anyone. While all this was going on with my mom my fibro was really bad but I had support. So it’s really really important if you can to try to take advantage of everything that is given to you. You can search for www.nia.nih.gov/alzheimers

(Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) you might be able to find help thru there. They may be able to work with your insurance company to bring a certified nursing assistant to your home to sit with your husband or help care for him. I know how difficult this is and I also know how difficult it is to have someone you don’t know come into your house and help you do things that you think you can do but once you get used to it it’s very nice to have the help. However the bottom line is when I looked back on it the best thing to do was to take a breath and start new again. If you call them they can help you with the process. Having a strong support system in place is key. I know how much you want your husband to be your husband again bc my mom was my rock my best friend. I made sure that she was well taken care of when I needed time for a nap or shower or to take care of something. You need to make sure that you think about yourself and you your children too. You have a very full plate and having fibromyalgia is not going to make things better so please try to get help with your your husband bc this is going to only help you in the long run.
Also I have had fibromyalgia for about 26 years and I too have elevated liver enzymes. I was told it could be from my gallbladder being removed or taking Motrin. If your taking too much this can happen with any OTC products.
My prayers are with you and your family.

Wow, you poor woman!! Definitely sounds to me like you have fibro because of all the stress in your life! I can’t imagine having to cope with everything you have to deal with however my stressors that brought on my fibro were just as bad!! Yes the achy joints, sore burning muscles and every other thing you are experiencing sounds to me like fibro so I would think all you’re dealing with is fibro!! However, I am not s doctor so whatever your doctor says, I’m sure is correct, especially if he says fibro!!! Big hugs and I hope you find some help out there for all of your family!!
