Members shared a range of pain management strategies in response to someone struggling with severe fibromyalgia pain, with the most frequently mentioned approaches being heating pads, heated throws, warm showers, TENS units for muscle stimulation, and pain medications like gabapentin and extended-release guaifenesin. Several members described practical adaptations that help them cope, including massage from loved ones, acupuncture, muscle relaxants, distraction techniques like reading or watching movies, and cayenne supplements containing capsaicin. A recurring theme was the harsh reality of finding what works through trial and error, as many reported that common remedies like hot baths or certain medications either provided no relief or caused unwanted side effects, underscoring the deeply personal nature of managing chronic pain.

Do you have a heating pad? I use mine all the time on my back. I also have a heated throw which is a good size for the couch and it feels like a soft warm hug! I don't like baths either but maybe standing under a warm shower would feel good. I use a shower cap so I don't have to dry my hair after. It loosens things up a bit. Hope you find something that helps :)
