prednisone for pain?

I was in extreme pain yesterday for the 3rd day and could not handle the pain. I called my doctor who called in 20 Mg of Prednisone. Second day, 2nd dose. Seeing him on Thursday.

As others have said Prednisone is a steroid. I have it in tablet form when I have a flare up of my colitis. I've also received it via injection for nerve impingement in my shoulder, as well as both hands for carpal tunnel syndrome.
It really can work wonders but not suitable for long-term use due to side effects.

I was given so much prednisone and cortisone shots in the 90's (for back pain) I blame it 100% for my weight gain, my thyroid crashing, and my diabetes. It is EVIL. Unless you are dying in pain, or in a life threatening situation, I would avoid it. Steroids are bad bad bad, and Dr.s LOVE LOVE LOVE prescribing them. It weakens your immune system, messes up your endocrine system and more. If I knew then what I know now. I would have never ever ever taken it. Just my two cents ;) All my best to you ;)

I have heard of Prednisone being used for a patient with ulcerative colitis and that it is a steriod.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Be careful with the prednisone not good to be on to long ! it may cause head aches and you may crave chocolate , and you could gain weight ! Never heard of prednisone for fibro , but if it helps THANK GOD ! love peace and GODS BLESSINGS OVER YOU & YOURS ! smooches pooches
