I was wondering how many of you are redheads as I have had this discussion many times with a friend of mine. We both have many 'other' symptoms and conditions that don't necessarily fit with fibro but once diagnosed with it they dont seem to look further. We are trying to work out if it maybe a gene thing or not as being a red head has something to do with a missing gene. Was wondering what else this missing gene may affect.
My mum was a redhead when younger & has had arthritis since young & her mum the same. Mum had Fybromyalgia in her 70's me in my 50's. My niece in her 20's & she is a brunette. We also have a lot of allergies in our family.
Crikey @A MyFibroTeam Member. I'm so sorry for the three of you suffering. I do wonder if it is genetic also?. My grandmother, also a red head and blue eyed, also suffered with a lot of pain that wasn't really understood. She also had severe arthritis. When mum was growing up her friends thought my grandma was lazy as there were times when she couldnt get off the couch!
I also have blue eyes. My mums dad was Danish her mother Welsh.
My family is all brunette. Rhuematoid arthritis in oldest sister, middle 1 has Osteoarthritis like me. I read the polio injection has something to do with this . Lady on here told me to go on Melissa Kaplan webpage. Very informative. Dr's testing results all on it.
I am a redhead although it more blondie-red at this stage. There is 9 in my family and there are 4 of us redheads! I have blue eyes too. This is all very interesting!
