Thank you Lynette. I am having one gigantic pity party while trying to convince myself this will pass. I am almost 69 and had complete left knee replacement 4 weeks ago. I have aides and live by myself (husb passed 2 yr ago). I have degenerative disk disease, fibro and chronic fatigue syndrome. I saw my rheu dr a couple of days ago (he is wonderful) and explained that I am going through a VERY SEVERE fibro flare. After most surgeries people can rest and recover. I can't. I have to keep… read more

Members rallied around someone experiencing a severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue flare following knee replacement surgery, validating the overwhelming exhaustion that makes even basic tasks feel impossible and acknowledging the cruel catch-22 of needing to exercise while being too depleted to move. Several members suggested practical considerations including asking doctors about possible TIA or anesthesia reactions, requesting in-home physical therapy, using automated knee exercise machines, and giving oneself full permission to rest and be gentle during recovery. A recurring theme was the importance of chemical sensitivities in fibro patients, the need for medical teams who truly understand the condition, and the shared experience of having to radically adjust expectations and daily routines to survive a major flare.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I wish I had an answer for you. It sounds like you've been been re-triggered, if there is such a thing. It may be important for your rehab to keep your knee moving, but it may be worth having a heart to heart with the most sympathetic ear on your medical team, whether it be a nurse or a physical therapist, or another doctor and ask if the schedule you are on is absolutely necessary, are there any other options, such as sitting down or doing exercises in a heated pool to help you relax. Once upon a time, a patient saw someone like me, a rehab counselor, to deal with any emotional issues associated with revovery from a major life changing surgery. You need that, too. (I became a mental health counselor). One thing is clear and this recovery requires a lot from you, but you won't be able to give it your best shot if you are in excruciating pain and ready to lose your mind. I don't think your doctor really gets what you're going through. Am.I wrong?

Be Gentle with yourself 💗 I had a full knee replacement a year ago . It was brutal . It could be the pain Med your on . Also not being able to get up and out . Along with the Fibro flare part . Your body is going through so much already adding this is 💯 Plus ‼️ They gave me a machine that exercises your knee as you lay down . It’s automatic a big contraption oh my it’s Heaven sent it wonderful. I also have many back issues have had some disc replacement and blown disc in lower back . Lots of Love 💕🙏 . It takes a long time to recover from this a few months for me . I still have a lot of pain in my knee hip leg . Not sure if it’s my back causing it yet .

No indication but he is seeing me again next week. He is well trained in fibro/CF and knows my body well. I get triggered by stress, too much exertion and chemicals. Surgery was a hurricane waiting to hit. But I brought up the topic and he is studying all my hospital records before I see him on Tuesday. If needed I will get a cat scan.
