Members rallied around someone frustrated by others dismissing fibromyalgia as 'all in your head,' with the overwhelming consensus being that fibromyalgia is absolutely real, validated by Social Security disability approvals, and painful in ways invisible illnesses often are. Several members shared helpful resources including YouTube videos by medical experts explaining fibromyalgia's neurological basis, strategies for educating skeptical family members and doctors, and comebacks for dismissive comments that reframe pain as a legitimate brain-based experience. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of being doubted by loved ones and medical professionals, met with fierce solidarity from the community who emphasized trusting your own experience, seeking knowledgeable specialists, and remembering that ignorance from others doesn't diminish the very real daily struggle of living with fibromyalgia.

wow ignorance is bliss so i’ve been told, try this one next time someone says them degrading words on you- dyslexia-is all in the head. dyspraxia-is all in the head autism-is all in the head aspergers-is all in the head you see where i’m going with this - they are all in the head with no physical disablement but would they say that to them no as it would be discriminative!!!!

Alot of people will say that because they dont understand. I think most of us have heard that at some point in time. Keep your head up and always remain true about how you feel.

After a dr dx me, i was told he didnt know when or if i would b able to return to work, so was let go from my job cuz they couldnt hold my position opened. I applied for disability n was sent to see one of Their psychiatrists, who told me that there was no such thing as cfs or fibro, that its made up for ppl who think that something is wrong with them. I left outta his office confused, depressed, just started crying when i got in the car. I had never been suicidal, but after that day was in a dark place. Imagine my surprised to get a letter in the mail saying i was approved for SSI disability. I wanted to take that letter to that psychiatrist n ... Ugh! It was because of him, i went to a dark place with no hope - what a jerk!
