flares

Does anyone have flares around the lower part of your legs/ankles and foot? For the past 2 weeks, I have been having some very painful areas. My feet and toes are swollen kinda like a club foot. I went to see my doctor yesterday for my physical and I told her about it. I don't know why some doctors feel the need to touch the areas that you tell them it hurts, I almost kicked the stew out of her. She sent me to have some x-rays of my right foot. She also said that it could be a fibro flare… read more

Members shared widespread experiences with painful flares in the feet, ankles, and lower legs, describing symptoms like swelling, burning sensations, numbness, tingling, and simultaneous hot-and-cold feelings that can be debilitating during cold or damp weather. Several members offered practical relief strategies, including warm water soaks followed by ice baths, wearing high slippers or compression footwear, applying Vick's vapor rub, resting when pain strikes, and consulting specialists like neurologists or cardiologists to rule out related conditions such as peripheral neuropathy or heart issues. A recurring theme was the unpredictable and frustrating nature of fibromyalgia flares, with members emphasizing the importance of listening to your body, seeking medical guidance when symptoms persist, and finding comfort in knowing others understand the struggle.

Hi Kenyatta,
Yes I have had flares in my ankles and feet. My feet swell up and feel real puffy. My Doctor also told me it could be gout but most likely it is from the fibrmyalgia. I have treated it by soaking in warm water and then in an ice bath. It sounds crazy to put them in ice but when I looked up treatment for swollen feet this was mentioned. Kind of like an injury treatment.
I hope this helps you some.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I get numbness, tingling in my hands and feet. During winter I was burning and freezing cold (both). Certain areas felt like I was on fire and others ached like I had been frostbitten (indoors in Florida). I am interested in what your take is on this.

Fibro is so insane. I'm sorry my friend.
Without my pain pills it always starts as a burning in my feet and the backs of my legs and moves up and over my body.
God bless always.

Kenyatta, Has your heart been checked? Do you get numbness in your feet or a burning/cold sensation?

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have been to see a cardiologist bc of my fast beating heart rate. He never mentioned anything about congestive heart. When I saw him, my ankles were not swollen either.
