It feels like every muscle in my body is full of trigger points. I have tried everything from PT, Myofascial Release Therapy, Dry Needling, Trigger point injections, massage, using a tennis ball to try to release the trigger points, heat, soaking in a bathtub...you name it, I’ve tried it. The pain from this has been so great lately, that I literally have open wounds from rubbing and pressing over the tops of some of the trigger points. The pain is so great i didn’t even realize the skin came… read more
I use a medical device called IFC (interferetial current unit) at home for the burning pain in shoulders and lower back side. It is similar to a Tens unit, but much stronger and deeper penetrating. It is the only manner in which I can relieve intense muscle pain.
Yes trigger points appear here there & everywhere when someone touches me or taps me & they hit the trigger point of the day It brings tears to my eyes.My grandkids' notice it now & I try to explain to them what's happening they'll say you don't look sick Granma.I say I know but the pain is still there for me.Nothing that you have done wrong it's the Fibromyalgia I have taken different meds & had shots in my neck/shoulder area most days. For all of us I always hope for a cure & answers as to why we have it.When this started aprox 8 years ago I'd say it was all the heavy lifting I had done for 25 some years. I could no longer work w/the constant pain it may have helped mask what it actually was it was diagnosed by my Rheumatolgist. I have taken relefin, tramadol, Lyrica made me so dizzy I couldn't tolerate it.I'm taking meloxicam 2 times daily 7.5 mg. & increased fish oil 1000 mg @ 4 a day.I must say after a week or so it has helped me greatly! that is what I'm doing now.Can you tolerate the fish oil in larger doses? @ 1st I couldn't but the burping has more less stopped.I hope I helped w/some answers. Thanks for listening I know this is long.
@A MyFibroTeam Member , as Leslie mentioned, a TENS unit can be useful. There is also a typical gel, called Biofreeze. Here in the States it comes in a roll- on. It has no been a life changer for me. I really like the fact the that I don't have to get it on my hands. Also, the supplements that have helped me go from bed bound to up and about most days include, 1. Magnesium 2. Vitamin D (most people with fibro are very deficient) 3. Milk Thistle (helps clean the toxins out of the liver) 4. Melatonin (I take 10mg because of extreme insomnia. I would recommend beginning at 3mg and see how that works, then work your way up) To avoid fish oil and get better results you can try Krill oil. It's sold here under the name of Mega Red. I can't take it because I can't eat anything that comes from the ocean. I also take Gabbapentin, Cymbalta and tizanadine. And Advil over the counter.
I would find a doctor who has dealt with that before. That being said, my daughter is a migraine sufferer, for the same reason. She's done nerve blocks since she was 14. The thing that helped her the most was Botox injections. She did 3 or 4 rounds of it in addition to her nerve blocks. She hasn't had to go back into the hospital for migraines since.
Hi Ivah! Thank you for your response! I’m currently on Lyrica and low dose Naltrexone. The Naltrexone has helped me to not have debilitating pain anymore. But these trigger points have been worsening to the point of daily migraines. It’s really frustrating. Maybe one day they’ll come up with better treatment for fibro patients. 😊
