Yesterday my therapist told me that there were some new research studies that say women who have Fibromyalgia will find their symptoms will lessen and possibly disappear when we reach our mid-60's. Has anyone heard anything about this? I am 62 and am curious.

Members overwhelmingly disagreed with the suggestion that fibromyalgia symptoms lessen or disappear in one's mid-60s, with many sharing that their pain has either stayed the same or worsened with age, including stories of mothers in their 70s still struggling significantly. Several members described how aging brings additional challenges like decreased muscle tone, worse flare-ups during menopause, longer-lasting pain episodes, and persistent insomnia that compound fibromyalgia symptoms. A recurring theme was the importance of body awareness and pacing, with one member offering practical advice to approach daily activities mindfully like a dance, breaking tasks into smaller pieces and paying attention to strain, bending, and repetitive motions to prevent next-day pain.

My fibromyalgia disappeared with each pregnancy . I have 5 children , but came back after nursing each time . Now during menopause my flare ups are worse and general pain, insomnia are a constant .

@A MyFibroTeam Member, love what you wrote. Body awareness is so important. I will think of all my movements as dance as well from now on. I did Tai Chi many years ago and it made me so aware of body movement. Must be the same for you with dance. The stress can cause muscle tension that we often are not aware of. Big problem for me. 💃🏽🕺🏽
