Oh yes. I had the vaccine, so I thought I'd never get it. Then late last Sept I got them on the right side of my back. Talk about misery. Fortunately, there was an effective anti-viral that shortened the time I had them and I didn't get any nerve damage. Next week.I'll be getting the first shot of the New shingles vaccine, Shingrix, which was approved here and is 95% affective. I hope this information helps. If you want to know more, just click on my picture and ask.

@A MyFibroTeam Member hi Kris yes I've just got over shingles. It's not secondary to fibro, but being run down, and stress can trigger it. But you can only get shingles if you have had chicken pox. Shingles is a secondary illness from chicken pox. The shingles virus is left behind in a dormant state, and in some people will never appear. Fibro sufferers are definitely more prone to it as we have higher stress, therefore lower immunity. I couldn't get the vaccine as it needs to be given within 72 hours of onset and I didn't see doctor for almost a week because I thought at first I was in a bad flare, and the rash was at the back of my head and neck and felt like bites. The doctor just gave me some lotion (which didn't help at all!) and said rest and take extra Tramadol for pain. Calamine lotion worked best and antihistamine for the itching. I am very thankful it didn't spread down my body, I know that is even more painful. Did you ask this question because you have shingles or because you are looking into the vaccine! @A MyFibroTeam Member thanks for thinking of me 😘

I got shingles just before I got fibro. It was shingles, Epstein’s bar, then fibro.
Shingles is the worst!!! Worst pain I have ever had.
But I will not be getting the shingles vaccine. The vaccine can actually cause a shingles outbreak. There is a class action law suit going on right now for people that have received the vaccine with negative side effects.
I hope I never get it again and I hope no one here gets it either!! ❤️❤️
