Ive been dealing with bad constipation for a very long time (years) i didnt realize normal people went every day and I can go a couple weeks before going. When i finally go i dont even tend to pass much and its difficult to pass, often leading to hemrroids... i dont have a lot of discomfort except for when i actually do go. Ive seen doctors and they’ve just told me to drink more water and eat fiber. Is this common in fibro? Could it be something more? Im often not taken seriously at the dr… read more

Members rallied around someone struggling with severe constipation for years, urging them to seek care from a gastroenterologist or urogynecologist rather than accepting dismissive advice based on their age, as going two weeks without a bowel movement can be dangerous and may indicate underlying issues like IBS, pelvic organ prolapse, or medication side effects. Several members shared practical remedies that have worked for them, including prescription medications like Miralax, Movantik, Linzess, and Constella, over-the-counter options like Smooth Move tea, Dulcolax, VSL#3 probiotics, prune juice, magnesium, and dandelion leaf, as well as the Wildroots Coastal Berry Mix from Costco and techniques like splinting for rectocele. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy with doctors, staying hydrated, understanding that constipation can worsen pain and allow toxins to be reabsorbed into the body, and recognizing that regular bowel movements are essential for overall health and immune function.

Try probiotics. There is a very good one, probably the best, it is over the counter, but kept refrigerated
So you have to ask the pharmacist for it. It is called VSL#3 it is kind of expensive but works very well.

Hello. I think I would consult a gastroenterologist regarding your problem. You seem to have a sluggish alimentary system and it is not normal to go two week without a bowel movement, even with opioids, which can cause this. This can get serious without regular bowel movements. Please take care of yourself. Blessings.....teri

I am like you and do not go everyday but I get so uncomfortable, I get cranky I’ve noticed. I’ve also noticed that my pain gets worse when I haven’t gone in awhile!! I went to your page and saw you live in the U.S. I only did it to see if you would have a Costco available close by and could get there because they sell a mix called “Wildroots Coastal Berry Mix” and it helps me amazingly plus it’s delicious!! Lol. I now buy a bag at least every two weeks and try to eat a bit every night to help! I can actually tell when I’ve not had it for a couple of days. By the way, I’m not one of the healthiest eaters and if I didn’t know better, I’d swear I’d never buy it but it’s delicious! Hope this helps!

I am 56 yrs old and was told 2 years ago after a colonoscopy ,that I have IBS ( Irritable Bowel Syndrome ) I tend to be constipated despite lots of water ,fibre and walking. So , I have a new medication called Constella and it works well.

Hi what really helps me is prune juice and prunes. You may have to drink a glass every day until you have results. Good luck my friend.
