34 years ago I contracted herpes simplex. Some months after that I noticed that I would get an infection outbreak just by being exposed to a sudden strong wind. I had the virus above and below my waist. When it was above my waist the lesions would appear on my left pointer finger and my whole arm and shoulder would hurt excruciatingly.

Then exactly 23 years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It felt so much like the pain I got from herpes outbreaks I wondered if there was a connection. I don't know if there is or not.
I kept getting outbreaks so bad my doctor had to keep prescribing large doses of Valtrex which.I still.take. And yes, wind is also a factor in my fibromyalgia. Herpes and fibromyalgia have several things in common. There's pain, fatigue, it affects the nerves, and weather can cause an outbreak/flare. But you can't catch fibromyalgia by kissing or being intimate with someone. So far there's no cure for either.

I think it irritates the nerves. I live in a windy spot and have noticed it increases fatigue also, bc I have to strain against the wind to stay upright.

Yes it's common try to wear long loose socks and loose clothing because not only do you ache when it's cold your more likely to swell out as I do.
