Using Cannabis? Other Than The Doctor Who Gave You The Option To Use Cannabis.
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have severe reactions to several drugs especially antidepressants and steroids. Too complicated even more I have glaucoma and unable to use some of these treatments. Have been seriously thinking of using cannabis and my concern would be the reactions from my other doctors. Not sure how to get started.

I use CBD and Weed. I only smoke at night, but do CBD drops daily as needed. CBD is from Hemp and will not make you high, and is legal. Even though weed is in some states, you can use CBD in public and carry it on you without worry. Talk openly to your Dr you may be surprised by their response.

I used cannabis for years for both pain management and insomnia, but I have found that as the years have progressed that even though it helped me to go to sleep, I am not able to stay asleep for very long and it seems to effect my dreaming (REM Sleep). As we all know, lack of restful sleep exacerbates fibromyalgia. I also am epileptic (TLE with Simple partial Seizures) and my seizures have been getting progressively worse. I believe both conditions are related to not getting restful sleep from the cannabis. I quit smoking a couple of years ago and after about 6 months I started having restful sleep where I could sleep thru the night and had dreams that I could actually remember, but I started smoking again and all that went away. Cannabis has also made my anxiety worse. For these reasons, I have had to quit. I don't have the luxury of being in a legal/medical state where I can get Indica/ high CBD strains, you just get what you can get and hope its not schwag. LOL. I am hoping to try CBD oils in the near future.

I am going to pose the suggestion to my fibro specialist during my exam today; I have heard so many positive comments from cannabais users that you don't have long term damage to liver and kidneys with cannabais like you do with some of the medications prescribed for pain. My cousin was placed on Oxycontin (not sure about spelling) which is a very strong, addictive medication and I would NEVER recommend that to anyone. My brother has been placed on Oxycontin and Morphine for pain and was recently hospitalized for internal bleeding! He is trying to wean himself off of Morphine but it is a long road and he is going through major withdrawal from strong dosage of this medication. I have never heard of strong side affects like my brother is suffering from cannabais; only heard many people praise the legalization of it in their state. My friend in Michigan deals in cannabais and carries items like butter and suckers (he has a client with a young child of age 10 who has cancer and uses the lollipops which relieve him of much of the discomfort he was experiencing; my friend GIVES the product to this young boy because he father is a deadberat father who does NOT contribute financially to the little boy's life; truly a sad situation. God bless all of you and keep you safe, happy and as pain free as possible. Gentle hugs coming from Winter Storm Watch area in Chicago.

Don't worry about your doctor's reactions. In my experience if they havent used it themselves, they dont know anything about it and cant make any recommendations because they have zero experience or training or insight or studies to help them.

Some act cool about it, some give you the judgmental attitude. Who cares! Do what you need for yoyrself to feel better.
I have told every one of my doctors I'm on Cannabis (in a legal recreation state) mostly so they can gain some feedback to learn!

Some doctors are also hesitant to make recommendation because there are so many strains and variety of reactions that theres no way to advise anything to individual patients other than to try it and see what works for you petsonally.
By the way I use blue dream strain right before bed to assist in a restful nights sleep and improved symptoms from the better, longer sleep.

I have ben dealing with Lupus and Fibromyalgia and High Blood Pressure since my 30’s! If I took all the drugs they have prescribed ovet the years, I would be dead. I am a firm believer in the medicinal benefits of Cannibus. I had a medicinal marijuana license for years but since it is legal to all in Nevada now I dont have to pay for a license. Out of over 100 cannabinnoids in marijuana only one is THC ( psychoactive) the rest are completely healing properties. I make most of my own blends... tinctures for taking sublingually, pain creams etc. there are so many goid blends of low THC high CBD for day time and stronger nigjt time. There are so many books on Amazon with the latest research showing all the healing and medicinal effects of marijuana. You need to have access to a good Dispensary and they can help yoy wirh a blend for you. I would nevet order CBD online again.
