Getting Back To Work Post Dx — Seeking Tips And Inspiration!
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all. I was finally dxed in sept but had been experiencing terrible flares and misdiagnosis for long before. I am trying to motivate myself to get back to work but the fear of not being able to handle it or fulfill my obligations keeps holding me back. Does anyone else experience this? Has anyone overcome this? If so, what helped you overcome your fears? And what has helped you once you got back to work, especially when fibro flares up
Some days I feel really motivated to get back to my “old… read more

There are quite a few places that offer medical benefits for part time employees. Starbucks being one of them.... I know this form research on IVF coverage, that they have even for part time employees. Also office work is not bad... Most of office work is not just sitting so you get to get up and move around. To be honest there are many days I just push through it. I am 34 years old I work 40+ hours a week. It is exhausting and every day when I get up I dread getting out of bed. Once I actually to work it is usually not so bad. Getting started for the day is truly the hardest part.
I get up drink coffee eat breakfast and take my very many vitamins and supplements. I get dressed and stuff and out the door I go. Half awake most days... But an hour or so after I get there I'm awake and making it through the day!

I have a very physically and mentally demanding job. Not to mention extremely stressful since I am a property manager of a small resort and campground so I cannot afford to let my fibro get me down. I have to stay on my medication even though I don't necessarily like it. It helps me get through my day and helps me function better. Also, I have found that having a job where I can move and exercise on a daily basis helps more than an office job just sitting in one place or standing in one place all the time. It is possible it's hard but it's possible with fibro. But if you find a medicine or medication combination that helps you stick with it because that might be your key to functioning better on a daily basis.
And make sure to take vitamins not just Dr prescribed medications

I work in assisted living. I work in the office most of the time. My hours vary between 7-4:30 or 6-2:30 sometimes I work late until 8pm. When I work the office I answer phones talk to families and Drs. I set up appointments and arrange transportation. When I work on the floor I give medications and provide care, getting them up dressed changed and ready for the day, assisting with daily activities.
I also use CBD oil, I vape and sometimes I use an oral kind, but I really dislike the oral kind I have now. .... If you are not getting any relief try a different method or brand.
Vitamins....
Morning* multi vit, 2 magnesium, hair skin and nails, vit k, vit D, apple cider vinegar tabs, 2 turmeric complex, 2 vit C, 2 raspberry ketones, 2 garlic, 2 green tea tabs, B complex, zinc, vit B 12 5,000 mcg fast dissolve, folic acid, fish oil, probiotic, 2 echinacea .
Night*
2 gaba, 2 power to sleep pm, 2 turmeric, magnesium, garlic, black cohosh.
I also take an allergy pill at night.
Some nights I take a muscle relaxer.
I use Ibuprofen and Tylenol sometimes.
I also have cold pads for headaches, I get those at the 99¢ store, three for a dollar! Everywhere else they are $$$$!
I use heating pads and freezer pads to help with neck back should pain. I on occasion use different muscle rubs for pain as well.
I take my morning pills with breakfast and milk. I drink coffee every day. I try to drink lots of water and other fluids.

I have tried every kind of medication used for fibromyalgia and I got no relief!!! Not to mention how much they cost and made me feel crappy!
I have not gone to the Dr for fibromyalgia in a long time... Well over a year... Last time I went to the Dr was because I could not breath, bronchitis and ear infections.

@A MyFibroTeam Member this is really inspiring! thank you so much!!! it really gives me hope. I have been reading through hundreds of the old Q&As and it seems like no one works FT. what kind of work do you do? i am applying to office jobs but hopefully less stressful ones than my previous job... what kind of office job do you have? what types of vitamins and supplements and meds do you take? i want to fuel up! i've been trying CBD oil but it hasn't helped yet. Otherwise i take a daily multivitamin with biotin and vitamin D.

@A MyFibroTeam Member thanks so much for sharing your story — I also struggle from SEVERE back and neck pain partially from a previous injury and then the fibro. Just the idea of being seated for 8+ hours daily, walking, or standing (my old job was in advertising so I was constantly on the go) seems impossible... I have considered contract work or PT but then you don’t get benefits and as we all know - we NEED healthcare. It’s just such a struggle.
