So I’m new to this and I’m now on all sorts of tablets and supplements - like over 20 pills a day! I’d like to try for a baby towards the end of the year but I’m wondering how others found pregnancy off the meds and being a new mum. Most days are a struggle at the minute and that’s without a baby who completely depends on me. Any advice or stories about your experiences would be hugely appreciated

Members shared deeply personal experiences about managing fibromyalgia while considering or raising children, with many acknowledging that while pregnancy itself can go well, the physical demands of newborn care and chronic pain create daily challenges that require careful planning and strong support systems. Several members emphasized the crucial role of partners, family help, and community in making parenthood possible, with some describing how they push through pain for their children or grandchildren but honestly admit they couldn't manage without substantial assistance. A recurring theme was that pursuing motherhood with fibromyalgia is achievable but requires realistic expectations, open communication with your support network about energy limitations, and the understanding that some days will be harder than others.

Thank you all for your answers, its been very insightful. Not having children isn’t an option but you’ve all helped me understand that having a support network is important. I think if i didn’t have children i would resent myself forever. My husband is very supportive and i have family who could provide help and support. I feel that to give up on my dream of being a mother would be letting this illness completely destroy my life. I know it won’t be easy but it would break my heart to not have a family of my own. I wish you all well and send gentle hugs as a thank you x

I had my 3rd child after years of suffering with fibro, I didn't plan him but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I had 2 teenage girls to help me. Thank God! It was bad the first 2 weeks but having a baby gives you the strength to get out of bed and brings so much jy that yu can live with the pain. Good luck and prayer helps alot

Thankfully when it came on I already had my babies. Its a struggle with my grand baby. Each person's experience is their own. Days I can't drag myself across the room but when my grand baby comes, I reach down and find the strength to tend to her. Difference is she is going home. You know your strength, your support system and how bad you want to be a mom. If your goal is to be a mom, get the worries out of your head and like Nike says " just do it" your body will do what it needs to in order to give you what you need. Peace & Blessings

I'm in your same boat. We're probably going to start trying soon. Would love to hear more of your thoughts as you get them. I'm going into it fully relying on my husband and on Jesus and my community. I think if we can all be on the same page that I am not going to have my full energy all the time, and what that means practically, then I feel more hopeful.

I hadn't known I had this while being pregnant but the pregnancy went well it was just the labor that was the worst thing. Because of the fitique it hit harder and was the pain was worse than my first labor. I just take it easy and you should be OK.
