I used to be on amitryptaline to control depression. I was never prescribed more than 40mg/day. It worked for about a year and a half before I became restless to the point that I was only sleeping 1-2 hours a night and no sleep during day.
Antidepressants do tend to make people feel spaced out and not like theirselves. It is really important to work with your doctor to find one that allows you to feel as normal as possible.

I am on Amitriptyline 20mg, I was on 10mg but was told if it is not working and I am not sleeping to take 20mg but she said do not go beyond that.

I was on amytriptiline but felt spaced out due to the high dose levels and didnt like it. I wasnt functioning and felt i would rather be in pain than walking about like a zombie.

Im on 50mg which i take at night, it does help but not every night as i wake alot and then cant sleep ive only recently been put on this strength so going to give it a bit longer before going bk to gp

I'm on 50mg for sleep, it used to work great but I'm not sure if my dose needs to go up or I'm just worse in general they no longer seem to help me sleep much at all
