Awesome! I'm glad that you mentioned them actually, I keep forgetting to wear them.
Note to self: Wear those really long socks tomorrow. There, now I'll remember.
You know... I guess.... It seems to me, that since we don't have many options, and bad days are no fun, and pain really gets boring after the initial romance wears off (kidding), and most people really just don't understand us...... That the name of this game becomes... Simple Pleasures.
What I mean is that the world isn't going to make an appointment for a 45 minute massage for you, so... DO it. Every Week!
If you really like Chocolate Ice Cream but are worried about a few calories or what somebody might think or say.....DO it. (Sometimes)/
If you find that a good hot bath or hot tub feels great, and last time you were thinking that you should do that more often (3 weeks ago)....Do it. Daily!
If you've heard (maybe for the first time here) that those foam rollers are great for loosening up sore muscles. Try it!
I'm not saying "if it feels good, do it", I firmly believe that the FIRST part of any therapy is reading your Bible, and if you're feeling lonely, go to Church first, then login here, but what I AM saying is that I see and hear about way too many people denying themselves simple Pleasures while sitting there in pain.
I'm not preaching at you, Layne, you tried the socks and I'm so thankful that they helped, but I'm aware others will be reading this too.
Here's some more of my go-to selfish pleasures, please add yours:.
Definitely everything mentioned above.
TENS machine, if you don't have one, get one. Under $30 at Walmart or Walgreens.
Shiatsu! One of my favorite words. If you don't have a Shiatsu foot massager.....get one! Just looked it up, about $60 at Walmart or wherever. Awesome! Don't bother please with one that just vibrates, get the Shiatsu or better but they get expensive after that.
Shiatsu! Did I say that's a good word? While ordering above... Add a Shiatsu back and neck massager, I don't see the old model with handles on the sides but if you find one, get it. There are a bazillion new styles but find one you like, just make sure it's Shiatsu.
Camping. What? Yes, I'm serious. Getting away from everything, getting back to nature.... Priceless.
If there's something that you've wanted to build, but have put it off so long you can barely remember it.... Build it.
If you don't have a Dog... What's wrong with you... Get one! Preferably a cute little one that loves to sitting your lap. A best friend, and great therapy.
Just please don't neglect yourself.
Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble.
Hope it helps.
Love You,
Keith
Yes I use them frequently, I feel they help me.
@A MyFibroTeam Member I’ve been wearing them for the past few days and it seems to be helping, it’s seems to be much easier to walk around with the compression stockings than without them so that’s a plus
Hi Layne! How ya doing? Let's all have a great day today, it's my day off. It's also 7:00am and I haven't slept yet, so I kinda blew it already. ughh.
Soo, ya, The socks don't hurt. They seem to help a little, and a little is a lot in our world. The thing is though, you know how it is, we wear them, at the end of the day the legs feel okay, but did we just have a good day? Or was it a bad day and the socks actually helped? For me, the bottom line is yes I think they do help a little, however, I don't wear them everyday so if that tells you anything. Love you all. Thanks for being so special.
Absolutely YES! Try them. They can come with different levels of compression. You may have to try different ones to find the right ones for you. Honestly, I wear the ones they give you at the hospital. But you can try your pharmacy or amazon.
