Good morning and happy to say I have found this group during a search for my answer. For the past year I have been fighting mutiliple sinus and ear infections. But even when the infections are cleared up the glands on the right side of my jaw line stay swollen. As of yesterday I was assigned to a Internal Medicine doctor who agreed they are swollen again but my throat and ears look fine
When they swell up I run low grade fevers, have ear pain and the glands themselves are painful. A friend… read more
Definitely have your doctor check you for mono. The ebstein barr virus is now being connected to fibro. They are working on an antiviral for fibro patients. I had mono at 16 and had reoccuring symptoms until i had my tonsils out at 24. I had fibro from 21 years old after a injury. The swollen glands and low grade fever and total exhaustion is mono. I slept for 22 hours a day for 2 and a half weeks. Then i started back to school and came home and slept till the next day for several months. I had it really bad. Some people have it and are not even diagnosed. The eb virus stays in your system and when you have a traumatic event, it goes into fibro. Look up medical medium on fb. The doctor on there has been researching fibro for years. I hope you feel better. Just rest as much as possible. Thats about all you can do. Hugs
Probably because fibromyalgia affects the whole nervous system which runs throughout the entire body, we are prone to get a whole laundry list of symptoms. Some people have all of them, while others have some symptoms and not others. It's very individual. I've had this disease for over 20 years and have probably had all the symptoms at one time or another, just not all at the same time.
@A MyFibroTeam Member. I am sorry that you have gone thru so much in your life. I have been sickly too but thank god i have a wonderful family that have always been there for me. The swollen glands are probably from mono/fibro so try not to stress about it too much. Did you get tested for lyme disease? If you had that many ticks on you, it is very likely that you have lyme too. I think all of these diseases are linked to our messed up immune systems. After I had mono at 16, my health went down the tubes. It seems like I was always sick with something. The doctors will do tons of tests on yiu to try to figure out what is going on with you. Unfortunately with me, they never find anything wrong so it gets blown off as fibro. I hope you get some answers soon but if nothing shows up, it probably is fibro. At least you know ahead of time so you won't be as frusterated. It is not in your head, remember that. I hope you feel better soon and I hope you get some answers. Keep me informed. Hugs
I've always complained to my doctor about swollen glands around my neck area. Low grade fevers also. It's nice to know there's other fibro people to talk about these symptoms, if i try to explain these "weird" symptoms to anyone else they would look at me like i had three heads or something. Sinus problems, skin crawling, dry feet, i could go on and on...26 years and still having "weird" symptoms. I tend to blame every little thing on fibro because seriously it is fibro!
I have swollen glands and low grade fever when the fibro is acting up. It can last a few hours to a couple of days.
